Team –

Please see below the meeting notes for October 8th CinciGlobal meeting.

  1. Debrief from Dan Beaudry session at UDayton (thanks Lisa for the kind invite!). Julia, Lisa and I attended, will share our learnings.
    1. Julie and Eleodor shared their learnings on the session. Overall, a good method for the International students to kickstart their career search in US, via “informational interviews”. Key take-way – the current HR/ Career fairs/ Website application is not favourable to International students. Best approach is to engage decision makers directly, via informational interviews. More details at http://www.powerties.net/;
    2. Good blog entries on the method are at How to work a career fair, international student style, 5 guaranteed ways to find perfect contacts, How to follow up: 5 guidelines

  1. Preparation of the Career Fair – student engagement, attorney engagement. Will dedicate next session to the employer engagement.

Last year we had 30 employers. Key improvement areas for the Career fair were in the 1.) employer booth wait time and 2. matching employers with student interest. This tie we will sense the students on what their interest is, and seek employers that match that field. This early sensing will also help build confidence with the employers – how many intend to attend, what are the fields of interest.

For  this week we will continue the topic #2 with the plan for the students engagement, and then start the topic on Employee engagement for the Carreer Fair.
